Over the last few years, we have invested heavily in our off-season pitch maintenance program.

This year is no different even with the COVID-19 crisis.

The early end to the rugby season has allowed our contractors to make an early start and we have paid considerable sums for fertiliser and re-seeding.

The benefits are starting to show, and the pitches and practice areas are looking good.

We are aware that people are using our pitches for private exercise and kicking practice.

Following careful consideration, the committee has reconsidered its decision to prohibit use of the pitches and training areas.

We ask instead that exercisers please stay off the newly seeded and treated pitches, which are now roped off, and use the grass areas adjacent to the pitches.

The no-go areas are clearly identified.

Please remember that dogs must always be kept on leads and not allowed to foul any of the grassed areas at Winchester RFC.

The nature of rugby is that the participants spend a lot of time rolling around in the mud.

Dog faeces carry a vast number of diseases that transfer to the ground it is deposited on to.
